What “Spiritual Awakening” Actually Means?
There are many spiritual awakening definitions out there…
According to some of them, to be “truly spiritually awakened,” you would first need to go through complicated meditation rituals or retreat from your day-to-day life and live in a monastery.
Now, nothing wrong with the definitions and choices mentioned above if that’s what a person decides to do and feels called to do, following their intuition and inner guidance. However, I don’t define spiritual awakening as something you have to work hard for and achieve with using forced actions someone told you you should do. Nor is it about expecting the same spiritual awakening symptoms someone else is getting.
Because everyone is different and on a different journey. So, embrace yours. What I am sharing can serve you as a guide to embrace your inner guidance system and create your own spiritual awakening story that will be unique to you.
So never feel bad, because you read about someone’s awakenings and spiritual powers or gifts they discovered and feel like you’re missing something.
It’s IMPOSSIBLE to miss anything, because you came here with everything you needed to follow your path.
Now, you’re just remembering what you’ve forgotten, and that process of remembering is unique to you.
And I’m in no way implying that you need to do exactly what I did. Of course, you can, if you feel called to do so. Don’t overcomplicate anything, though!
But to be absolutely honest with you, the reason why I got into spirituality in the first place was that I wanted to make things (and my life) simple.
I’d already been so tired of having to “stick to” complicated, “I’m not good enough”, ego and fear-based protocols…
And I’d been so tired of being the victim of my own mind and ego…
(and other people’s minds and egos, especially when I didn’t really know who I was and what I wanted, so I couldn’t protect my mind, and other people’s dogmas could quickly influence me).
I’m not too sure about you, but that’s not how I wish to go through my spiritual awakening…
More ego fear-based definitions and things we “have to do” to “get more and more”…of what?
“Spirituality success”? Can we even measure “spirituality success?”. And even if we could, what would be the point?
My definition of spirituality and spiritual awakening is very simple…for me, it’s all about:
-creating your own definitions and life philosophies;
-living according to what you have chosen to believe and who you have chosen to become;
-choosing to expand your awareness…but not from a place of “trying to be smarter and more spiritual” so that others praise you or envy you and your superpowers…but from curiosity, joy, and staying humble.
Finally, I also believe that true spiritual awakening comes when you have a solid intention to come into full alignment with what you truly desire.
You start asking yourself questions such as:
“Who am I?” “Is this thought really mine?” or “Can I embody what I desire?”.
I would also add that spiritual awakening is not a single event. It’s more like a continuous evolution. It feels like being in a flow. It’s kind of like being a lifelong student (or an eternal student if we look at the bigger picture).
Spiritual Awakening & Manifestation
I truly believe that spiritual awakening and understanding the signs of it can be very powerful to help you manifest your dream reality from a new paradigm.
As a Law of Attraction & Manifestation author, I’ve come to the conclusion that the #1 thing that stops people from manifesting, or at least makes them feel like they’re not manifesting with ease, is that they try very hard to manifest something that is not actually good for them in the long-run….
A part of them is awakened, and because of that, they take an interest in spirituality & manifestation. They begin to read and research. Maybe they take courses, hire a coach, or work with a healer.
But, they still set their intentions from an old identity and an old ego.
Because of that, complete alignment can’t be achieved, and so they find it “hard” to manifest.
Now, I’m not judging. I have been there as well.
When I started my manifestation journey, I wanted to manifest from lack, ego, and desperation. My intentions were fear-based, and the goals I “chased” were not even my goals.
I just tried to manifest someone else’s dreams.
I dive into this concept much deeper in my book: ”How NOT to Manifest: Manifestation Mistakes to Avoid and How to Finally Make LOA Work for You.” (the title may seem a bit negative, but have no fear, this book only has one intention – to release what no longer serves you to help you manifest what you desire; in other words, the way it’s written and structured serves only one purpose – cleanse and heal old limiting mindsets and energies, so that you can create space for your desires and intentional manifestations.
It was when I decided to explore spirituality that I finally realized this:
I need to understand who I really am.
Otherwise, nothing will ever work.
I’m going to focus on my spirituality and my self-awareness.
I’m going to find my own goal instead of trying to be someone I am not and trying to manifest a reality that may be someone else’s dream…
…but it’s not even what I want.
From there, things finally began to change for me.
I also focused on deep vibrational alignment work that I now share in my free 5 day-program 🙂
My Spiritual Awakening Journey
After my awakening started, I felt guided to focus 100% on my writing, and I became an international author of many LOA/self-development/manifestation books.
The best part? It didn’t happen from a place of ego, hustling, or seeking validation.
I wasn’t looking for fame or recognition. I wanted freedom & fulfillment and a peaceful lifestyle while doing what I love for a living and being of service to others.
That was a clear, love-based, pure intention in alignment with my new, spiritually awakened self-image.
Had it not been for my spiritual awakening, I would still be chasing some “goals” that society made me believe I should pursue.
So, embracing your spiritual awakening can be a real game-changer on this journey.
Thanks to owning who you really are and understanding the basic concepts of oneness and love-based intentions to manifest your dream reality and feel empowered knowing that…well, you are the power!
Spiritual awakening is an ongoing process (we could even say an eternal process) of desiring to understand more. It’s a journey of love, compassion, and transformation.
Now, let’s have a look at …
The most powerful spiritual awakening signs and what they actually mean…
Powerful Spiritual Awakening Signs
Sign #1 When You Initiate Your Spiritual Awakening, You Feel Like Releasing What No Longer Serves You
You feel like embracing a more “minimalistic”, or at least partially “minimalistic” lifestyle.
In alignment with that feeling, you want to “feng shui it up”.
When I first realized I was undergoing a spiritual awakening, I really felt like decluttering my house and learning more about Feng Shui. I got a Feng Shui book by Karen Kingston…
Through some random recommendation by an online friend, so it’s safe to say that the book found me 🙂
The old me would laugh at him…
“Oh no…once again, some weird new-age books!”
But…the new me was already awakening.
So, I just bought the book! And I got hooked!
Then, I got it on Audible. I remember listening to it and feeling empowered while getting rid of old clothes and other items and making space for the new. I knew that something inside me was shifting.
But I didn’t stop there. I also wanted to “feng-shui” my PC, my files, and even my social media profiles…
Finally, after decluttering my home, I felt like decluttering my body…
So, I went on a nutritional program (Alkaline Reset Cleanse by Ross Bridgeford) for a week…
And I actually enjoyed it! (whereas the old me could never even imagine drinking a green smoothie or making veggie juice!).
A few weeks after that, I was guided to read my first EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) book by Nick Ortner…
Because of that fantastic modality- EFT, I got started on letting go of old, trapped emotions and energies. The BIGGEST inner transformation I could experience. Now, looking back, I know I was being guided. I needed EFT tapping to be able to manage my emotions, which led me to better focus, productivity, and, more importantly, inner leadership and being able to help others.
It’s hard to help others if you are stewing in your own negative emotions and can’t experience inner peace.
I still tap on myself daily.
Some people prefer meditation. Or yoga.
Whatever you have chosen to assist you in your desire to let go of the old, stick to it.
Whatever works for you, keep doing it.
The more you let go of the old (whether it’s emotions, old items, old clothes…some people even go as far as moving to a new city or a country…which I have done as well now that I think of it, haha), the more you open yourself up for the new!
I would encourage you to create your own “release/let go” rituals. Make them sacred because you’ve chosen so!
Sign #2 When You Are Spiritually Awakened, You Know There’s No Right or Wrong
You feel peaceful and open-minded. So, in alignment with that, you don’t feel like “trying to convince” someone to your point of view.
Likewise, you feel naturally guided to avoid situations when someone may try to “convince” you to do something against your will.
You don’t feel like arguing. And you understand there’s no right or wrong.
For example, there are many contradictory protocols and opinions in the space of LOA, self-development, and manifestation.
Often, readers reach out to me and ask me: “So what SHOULD I do? What is the RIGHT thing to do? Because this author says to visualize for 5 minutes and do it only once, but this book says something different.”
Well, the answer is simple: both can be correct!
The question is, which way do you feel guided to choose?
Or maybe, you can create your own way?
Why not?
It’s not like in school, where we have to do our exams or homework in a “certain way”.
Through my work, I love to give my readers different options, always from a love-based perspective, and encourage them to create their own manifestation system aligned with their preferences.
Also, when you understand there’s no right or wrong, you always feel open-minded and courageous enough to try to understand the other side. So, even if you have a certain way of doing things, and other people prefer to do the opposite, you may be curious to discover their way of thinking and understand them.
Another perspective is that all modalities, points of view, and techniques can lead to one place- the Source. So, in the end, we are all united by the same destination and energetic vibration behind it, which is LOVE, the highest vibration in the Universe 🙂
Sign#3 When You Discover You’re on a Spiritual Awakening Journey, You Feel Like Connecting More within Than Outside Yourself
Perhaps you realize that the constant need to “meet new people” and to party all night long was just an escape mechanism not to listen to yourself? Do you still feel like numbing your inner voice, or perhaps you are now led to let it heal and guide you?
And perhaps now, you feel like devoting more time to your inner work, like reading or meditation?
I used to be a big party animal, but thanks to my spiritual awakening, I realized I’m an introvert and an empath. And I like spending time on my own, and this is how I can charge my batteries.
But I used to get shamed about it, so I began going out because I felt like it was expected of me back then.
While going to parties helped me improve my social skills and meet new people, thanks to my spiritual awakening, I realized my true nature…and it`s because of my true nature I can follow my soul’s true calling- writing.
Now, many will say that writing requires discipline, and it’s something very hard to stick to…All the “writer’s blocks”, right?
And it was hard for me too (before my spiritual awakening, of course) because I had to force myself to write, and I would also “try hard” to write in a style that wasn’t even mine.
Or, I kept comparing myself to other writers and thought leaders…
But now, ever since I discovered my real me, I work in a flow. So, it doesn’t feel like “work.” It’s a passion and joy!
Also, by following my calling, even when it seemed challenging, I created many deep connections with like minded-souls who are on a similar journey. I realized the value of authentic, love-based connections.
So, ask yourself…are you giving yourself enough space to be You?
Do you allow yourself to spend more time on self-care, passions, and hobbies? What are your favorite activities?
Don’t get me wrong…you can be on a spiritual awakening path and be an extrovert…
Like we already said, there’s no right or wrong!
But perhaps, as a spiritually awakened extrovert, you begin to attract different people?
Or perhaps when you go out, you choose different places?
Whatever feels right for you, do it. And…never allow anyone to shame you for your new choices.
Remember, you don’t have to explain anything. Just follow your way and be happy.
Others may get inspired (and get started on their spiritual awakening too, who knows!)
Sign#4 As a Spiritually Awakened Being, You Are More Aware of One’s Own Power in Creating Reality
So, this is how you get into LOA and manifestation.
Some people may feel guided to change their jobs or even get into conscious entrepreneurship while deciding to manifest a passion-based business.
You become aware of your own choices and that these are very powerful. You also begin to explore some of your old decisions and wonder whether you made them consciously or blindly followed someone else’s rules.
You begin to put 2 and 2 together…
You suddenly see something else out there, and you can decide how you want to live your life.
Instead of living on autopilot and following society’s “template”, you begin to write your own book of your own life, and that becomes easier and easier.
Especially now that you’ve been releasing old items, clothes, energies, and emotions…
So, you begin to attract new people and circumstances that help you on your new journey.
This is the essence of the Law of Attraction. Like attracts like!
It almost feels like your brain functions differently. You begin to feel like a superhuman (but you love to stay humble). Maybe you even see some “new” opportunities that have always been there?
But your old self couldn’t see?
In other words, you unlock the power of connecting to something bigger!
Sign#5 Thanks to Spiritual Awakening, You Set Loved-Based Intentions
You realize you are an infinite, perfect, loving human being.
As such, you desire to set pure, love-based intentions that align with who you are.
For example, you may choose to do something that will benefit you and be of service to others.
Whatever you do, you do it differently with new, love-infused energy. And it feels so, so good!
Perhaps, you didn’t feel guided to change your job or start a new business.
Instead, you felt guided to keep doing what you have always done…
But…you do it with a different energy. And because of that, you attract much better outcomes.
It’s not uncommon for me to receive emails from readers reporting a rise in salaries or unexpected money coming from exactly the same workplace where they have always been…or from exactly the same line of business, they have been…
But since they embraced their spiritual awakening, they decided to do things differently.
A better, spiritual way 🙂
Well, it sounds a bit like a spiritual ego trip, but I couldn’t find any other way to express my thoughts, I hope you’ll forgive me; no spiritual pride here intended 😉
And as I LOVE to say…we don’t always manifest what we want, but we always manifest WHO we are.
Change your energy, and you will change your life!
Embrace your spiritual awakening, especially if you resonated with the 5 spiritual awakening signs described above! Keep digging deeper, keep being you, and keep expanding from a place of love!
Understanding Spiritual Awakening
Definition and Significance
A spiritual awakening is a profound shift in consciousness where an individual becomes acutely aware of a deeper reality beyond the physical senses. This transformative experience often leads to a heightened sense of connection with oneself, others, and the universe. It marks the beginning of a journey toward self-discovery, inner peace, and personal growth. Individuals undergoing a spiritual awakening may experience increased empathy, a reevaluation of personal values, and a desire for a more meaningful existence. This process encourages letting go of limiting beliefs and embracing a more expansive view of life, fostering personal development and a deeper understanding of one’s purpose.
Historical Perspectives
Throughout history, various cultures and religions have recognized and interpreted spiritual awakening in diverse ways:
- Buddhism: In Buddhism, spiritual awakening is referred to as “enlightenment” or “nirvana.” It signifies the liberation from the cycle of suffering and rebirth, achieved through the realization of the true nature of reality. This state is characterized by profound inner peace and wisdom.
- Hinduism: Hindu traditions describe spiritual awakening as “moksha,” the release from the cycle of reincarnation and the realization of one’s unity with the divine. This awakening involves transcending the ego and recognizing the interconnectedness of all life.
- Christianity: In Christian mysticism, spiritual awakening is often termed “rebirth” or “born again.” It involves a profound transformation and a deepened relationship with God, leading to a life guided by spiritual principles and love.
- Islam: Sufism, the mystical branch of Islam, refers to spiritual awakening as “fana,” the annihilation of the self in the presence of the divine. This experience leads to a state of unity with God and the realization of divine love.
- Indigenous Cultures: Many indigenous traditions view spiritual awakening as a harmonious relationship with nature and the spirit world. Rituals, visions, and rites of passage often facilitate this deep connection and understanding.
These diverse interpretations highlight the universal recognition of spiritual awakening as a transformative process leading to greater awareness, connection, and personal growth.
The Neuroscience of Spiritual Awakening: Exploring the Brain’s Role in Transformative Experiences
Spiritual awakening, characterized by profound shifts in consciousness and perception, has garnered interest within the field of neuroscience. Researchers aim to understand the neural mechanisms underlying these transformative experiences.
Neural Correlates of Spiritual Experiences
Studies utilizing functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) have identified specific brain regions associated with spiritual experiences:
- Parietal Cortex: Involved in self-awareness and spatial orientation, this area shows altered activity during spiritual experiences, suggesting a redefined sense of self and connection to a larger reality. –Yale News
- Frontal Lobes: Responsible for executive functions and decision-making, the frontal lobes exhibit changes during spiritual practices, indicating shifts in attention and cognitive processing.
- Thalamus: Acts as a relay station for sensory information; its activity modulation during spiritual experiences may influence perception and consciousness.
Neurochemical Changes
Spiritual awakenings are often accompanied by neurochemical alterations:
- Serotonin: Increased levels are linked to mood regulation and feelings of well-being, commonly reported during spiritual experiences.
- Dopamine: Associated with reward and pleasure, dopamine surges may contribute to the profound joy and fulfillment experienced during spiritual awakenings.
Neuroplasticity and Long-Term Effects
Engaging in spiritual practices can lead to neuroplastic changes:
- Meditation and Prayer: Regular practice can thicken the prefrontal cortex, enhancing emotional regulation and attention.- Springer Link
- Altered Connectivity: Spiritual experiences may modify neural pathways, fostering a more integrated and holistic perception of self and the world.
Implications for Mental Health
Understanding the neuroscience of spiritual awakening offers potential therapeutic applications:
- Resilience and Recovery: Spiritual experiences can enhance resilience and aid in recovery from mental health disorders. –Yale News
- Therapeutic Interventions: Incorporating spiritual practices into therapy may promote neuroplasticity and improve mental health outcomes.
In summary, neuroscience provides valuable insights into the brain’s role during spiritual awakenings, highlighting the interplay between neural activity, neurochemistry, and consciousness. This understanding bridges the gap between subjective spiritual experiences and objective scientific observation.
Stages of Spiritual Awakening
Embarking on a spiritual awakening is a profound journey that unfolds in distinct stages, each contributing to personal growth and deeper self-understanding.
1. The Awakening Stage
This initial phase is marked by a sudden or gradual realization that there is more to life than previously perceived. Individuals begin to question their life’s purpose, values, and the nature of reality. This stage often brings a heightened sense of curiosity and a desire to seek deeper meaning.

This introspective phase can be challenging but is essential for shedding old patterns and facilitating transformation.
Key Characteristics:
- Feelings of confusion, isolation, or existential crisis.
- Reevaluation of personal beliefs and life choices.
- A sense of loss or disconnection from previous identities or roles.

The transformation is evident in enhanced well-being, purpose, and connection to the world.
Key Characteristics:
- Adoption of new habits and practices that reflect spiritual growth.
- Improved relationships and communication with others.

Strategies for Managing Physical Discomforts:
- Regular Exercise: Engaging in physical activity can alleviate tension and promote well-being.
