Who Was Louise Hay?

Louise began her journey here on Earth as someone who had to overcome many struggles, traumas, and obstacles (such as being raped as a little girl). Her life wasn’t easy. And as she says in her wonderful book: You Can Heal Your Life, it wasn’t until her late thirties that her life began to change, thanks to discovering and fully immersing herself in the miracle of inner work. From there, Louise kept learning, growing, and teaching others how they can transform their lives with radical self-love, affirmations, and forgiveness.

So many of us may feel stuck thinking that it’s too late to change. But Louise always led by example…. she discovered self-development in her forties…and never stopped learning. We are always learning, evolving, and transforming.

If you want to heal your life, you totally can!

And with such an abundance of resources that we have available today, becoming a student of self-development has never been more accessible!

It’s never too late to change. All you need to do is to take an honest look at your life (without any judgment or guilt trips, of course) and promise yourself to take a little step every day to inspire your body, mind, and soul.

Those little steps always compound…and they will positively impact not only your life but also other people’s lives. Even if you’re not a coach, teacher, or healer…you can always inspire those around you. Whatever you do (your job, your daily activities, etc.), you can simply choose to show up as a new person, the new You!

That is how you can raise your vibration while helping raise the vibration of the planet. Your transformation is the magic that so many people need.

I hope that the following lessons and quotes from Louse Hay and my personal explanations of them will inspire you even further!

Let’s do this!

Louise Hay Quotes on Life

#1 “My day begins and ends with gratitude and joy.”

-Louise Hay.

“But I already know this! Nothing new here!” – does this voice in your head sound familiar?

Well, I was exactly the same. Always chasing the new tool or technique. But my most significant transformation came in the moments of hardship (being faced with severe disease and losing financial security I’d worked so hard for). It was then that I had to make a decision. I had to change my life. Not on the outside, like I always did. I had to take an inner journey of transformation. I knew it was my only choice.

I remember mindlessly scrolling Facebook, hoping to “find something.” And I came across this exact quote by Louise Hay. Of course, I said to myself: “But I already know this!”. But still, something inside me asked: “But are you practicing it? Can your current reality confirm that you are a grateful person?”.

I spent almost an entire night journaling and in self-reflection. And I realized how much resentment, anger, hatred, and complaining I’d held inside me…

Quickly, I made a decision to practice daily gratitude. I picked Rhonda Byrne’s book, the Magic. It wasn’t new to me. I’d read it at least twice. But only with my mind, not with my heart.

So, I had to promise myself to be strong and be all in. I promised myself to practice gratitude daily. I started with morning gratitude through journaling, using guided practice by Rhonda Byrne (I went through her book several times before creating my own gratitude practice). Now, I practice gratitude at least twice a day.

It’s as natural for me as breathing.

Just today, shortly before getting started on writing this post, I talked to an author colleague of mine who suffered a massive loss in his publishing business due to some external platform changes and policies that affected his publications.

He was devastated and full of resentment. Even though the technical issue was solved, he was still furious. That anger and resentment prevented him from seeing another great publishing opportunity that would allow him to create even bigger success for himself…

I quickly recognized my old self…and advised him to practice gratitude, preferably through writing (this works great for folks who enjoy writing!).

He’s already feeling better, and it’s just the beginning. I know that in the next few months, if he continues this simple practice, he will attract many new fantastic opportunities and reach a new level of success and fulfillment.

#2 “Remember, you have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”

― Louise Hay

Stop criticizing and shaming yourself. Release all that fear and negativity around your way of life and your decisions. Breathe in the present moment. You are now safe.

Personally, I don’t believe that we can build a happy, joyful, and prosperous life while still using the foundation of shame, criticism, and fear.

It’s time to let go of old paradigms. So often, we pick them up as kids…Some schools, educators, parents, teachers, or caretakers think that shaming and criticizing someone can motivate them to change.

Subconsciously, we pick those beliefs and use them to poison our body, mind, and soul. They become a part of ourselves, our self-talk, and our identity.

Louse Hay also talks a lot about forgiveness. Personally, I had to work a lot through criticism and shame and patterns I created around them.

First, I had to forgive those who taught me those patterns (yea, I love my parents, and I know they tried their best. But…they operated from old paradigms). Then, I had to become aware of criticizing myself and changing my self-talk. Finally, I also had to forgive myself for criticizing and being unkind to others. Then, I was ready for the new, positive chapter in my life.

Kindness and self-kindness matter. Spend some time in self-reflection and audit your words and thoughts. Can you shift them? Can you start to treat yourself kindly? Think about all the beautiful people, experiences, and so much more you can manifest into your life by being kind to yourself and others. Truly kind. From your essence. Your heart. And every part of your being.

#3 “If we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed.”

― Louise Hay, ‘Heal Your Body A-Z.’

All I can say here is- Amen! And it all starts with awareness. Just a few days ago, I was talking to a family member who is in therapy, and we talked about some negative patterns running in our family (now healed or almost healed).

Personally, my favorite modality is EFT tapping and Faster EFT. But, no matter what form of mental work or modality you choose to do- commit to it daily with full faith in transformation. As you start working on yourself and your beliefs, your world will change with you.

Now, Louise puts it beautifully and very honestly when she says: “almost everything can be healed.”

The honest and liberating truth is this- it takes time and commitment, and tenacity. But once you have found your inner healing modality or activity and commit to it, whether you do it by yourself, with a support group or coach, therapist/practitioner of a given modality, many things in your reality will begin to change, and many people will start to treat you differently.

Some may even feel inspired to do the inner mental work with you. But don’t force anyone into anything. Personally, I only share the inner work activities that I do (such as tapping, gratitude journal, meditation etc.) with people who are into self-development/spirituality already or at least are open-minded enough. But that’s just me. Perhaps, you feel differently about it, so always follow your way.

#4 “Forgiveness is for yourself because it frees you. It lets you out of that prison you put yourself in.” – -Louise Hay.

So often, we feel scared to forgive because we feel like the other person doesn’t deserve our forgiveness. Or that if we forgive, we will admit to being weak or wrong.

But here’s the most important thing to understand…

When you forgive, you do it for yourself and your own wellbeing first. You free yourself to move on. My personal belief is that when you forgive, you allow yourself to be more and receive more of what you genuinely desire because you’re no longer focusing that much on things that make you sad or hurt.

Learning how to forgive can be a journey in itself.

The Healing Power of Ho’oponopono to Manifest Forgiveness, Healing, Inner Peace & Self-Love

#5 “The mental thought patterns that cause the most disease in the body are criticism, anger, resentment, and guilt.”

― Louise Hay

So, as I’ve just mentioned while discussing our last quote on forgiving, when you forgive, you do it (first of all) for yourself and your own wellbeing.

Holding onto anger, resentment, and other negative emotions due to not letting go and forgiving can lead to disease (or, in some extreme cases, severe diseases).

That’s because all your mental and emotional energy is focused on the negative things that happened to you, and you are in victim mode. Of course, it is not my intention to shame anyone or made them feel bad for things that someone did to them and were totally out of their control. I’m not one of those guru-type LOA people utterly devoid of empathy who just go around saying: “It was all your fault; you manifested it”.

It just doesn’t make any sense to me to lead in such a way, and it doesn’t help anyone. I want to make people feel good. Remember that your power is right here and now, in the present moment.

Also, as you carry on this journey of forgiving and letting go, you will be protecting yourself from many unpleasant situations later down the road. But at the same time, never feel bad for what already happened, especially if back then, you were still not aware of this work and pretty much unconscious of how reality worked.

Now, intending to forgive someone may stir a whole lot of unpleasant emotions.

This is why I would recommend you calm down your nervous system with tapping or mindfulness, especially the 7-minute mindfulness program (very easy to follow, and you can’t excuse yourself out by saying: I don’t have time for this” haha).

42 Soulful Self-Care Affirmations for Manifesting Holistic Wellbeing

#6 “I am one with the power and wisdom of the Universe. I have all that I need.”

― Louise Hay.

This affirmation can be a real game-changer, especially when you intentionally understand its meaning. So often, we delay or even block our manifestations by manipulating our external reality. For example, we focus on the lack of money.

We get nervous when paying the bills or angry when we don’t receive a pay rise or a new business proposal. I used to be one of these frantic manifesters too. I would spend entire days worrying about money. I would compare myself with those who were or seemed more successful than I was.

So, my predominant energy state was: “I don’t have enough, and I want more, I don’t feel good or grateful about what I have.”

Add to it feelings of anxiety, worry, and lack.

Then, I was trying to make up for that with some mindless affirmations (using them as if they were some magic spells, really). No wonder I could never manifest my desires, which would make me feel even worse. I had a very love-hate relationship with LOA and manifesting.

But at some point, I had to change. I had to look deep within myself and be honest with myself. I had to learn how to love myself, heal myself from within myself, make peace with myself, and embrace gratitude for what I already had.

Now, it’s one of the pillars of my personal LOA and manifestation teachings…

You need to relax. Feel good about yourself and what you already have. You need to embrace the spiritual perspective and higher awareness…see abundance all around you.

Then, whatever manifestation modality or technique you choose, do it from this energy: You are enough!

Remind yourself that you are infinite. You are divine. You are a part of the most powerful, cosmic, and transformative power you can imagine.

Now, different people have different religious or spiritual beliefs. Whatever you believe in, invite that amazing power into your life! It can be God, angels, the Divine, the Universe, Cosmic energy…Your Higher Self, the Infinite Intelligence, your subconscious mind…whatever you choose to believe in, my Dear!

#7 “I only speak positively about those in my world. Negativity has no part in my life.”

― Louise Hay

Negativity is the most significant manifestation block. When we blame and criticize others, we also blame and criticize ourselves. Not the best energy to be in!

Whenever I catch myself thinking negatively about someone, I immediately say to myself: “cancel, cancel, cancel.”

Then, I focus my attention on myself. I ask myself: “Could it be…that you’re thinking and saying this and that about them, but…in reality you’re projecting something you need to heal about yourself?”.

Not the most comfortable question to ask oneself…but hey…self-reflection is a life-long journey.

I also focus my attention on gratitude. I ask myself: “what can I like or even love about this person (and myself)?”

The most significant spiritual lesson- we are all one. We are all connected.

I’ll be honest. I’m still struggling a bit with this one. But I’m grateful I’m aware of it and can keep moving forward!

#8 “Know that you are always safe. And also know that it’s possible to move from the old to the new, easily and peacefully.”

– Louise Hay

Do you have a passion you want to follow? Something you want to manifest…yet you feel paralyzed by fear?

Keep reminding yourself that you are now safe. It’s safe for you to manifest your goals. It’s safe for you to trust. It’s safe for you to move forward.

One of the quotes I’d like to add is by Tony Robbins:

“Your past does not equal your future.”

#9 “I do not fix problems. I fix my thinking. Then problems fix themselves.”

― Louise Hay

My personal recommendation is: whenever you feel like you’re facing a problem, set an intention to leave your mind and focus on your heart. Keep asking for guidance. Yes, our intelligent, logical minds can fix many problems. Unfortunately, they can also initiate many of them…This is why I am so keen on this practice: leave your mind, use it only when absolutely necessary, and try to spend more time in your heart.

Whenever faced with a problem, ask yourself: “Is there a way I can look at it differently?”, or: “What is a lesson here? How can I change my thoughts, actions, and feelings?”. Don’t blame yourself for anything. But be open enough to learn new lessons and move forward while embracing a new way of thinking and feeling. A new mindset and new heartset!

#10 Life is a lottery that we’ve already won. But most people have not cashed in their tickets.” – Louise Hay

You can’t overdo gratitude! And the mere fact that you are here, on this beautiful planet, is a massive win. You get to learn and experience new things. You get to experience spiritual growth.

Feeling grateful, just because it feels so good, is a beautiful, heart-opening experience.

Start your day with gratitude. Be grateful for the fact that you are alive and can breathe!

#11 “Cursing is an affirmation, worrying is an affirmation, and hatred is an affirmation.”

― Louise Hay

As I say in one of my books dedicated to affirmations: We are always affirming something…the question is- what?

It’s time to wake up and be in charge of how we speak and show up. Using affirmations consciously is like marketing and positioning yourself to the Universe.

And it’s all about positioning yourself for what you want, authentically! Start auditing your thoughts and words…the way you speak to yourself and others. Your words are powerful.

They can spread positivity or hurt someone (including you). Use them wisely. This tiny shift will make you feel good…and it will also make you manifest many amazing things into your life!

#12 “I spend time with positive, energetic people.”

― Louise Hay

Nothing more uplifting than masterminding with like-minded, positive people! It feels so good to grow together spread compassion and love.

You have the power to choose who you want to surround yourself with. That doesn’t mean you should leave your family, friends, and co-workers because they are not into self-development and spirituality…

But, you can choose to meet new people who lift you up. And you can spread and embody this positive energy wherever you go!

#13 “I am constantly discovering new ways to improve my health.”

― Louise Hay

As Jim Rohn put it beautifully: “Take care of your body; it’s the only place you have to live!”.

Loving yourself and your body means always learning more about self-care. Become your own health detective. Keep learning and experimenting with healthy foods, learn new recipes and find physical activities you enjoy.

The magic lies in the word ENJOY.

It’s not about forcing yourself into eating foods you don’t like or torturing yourself with strenuous fitness or diet plans…

It’s about doing what’s best for you and your body.

#14 “The point of power is always in the present moment.”

– Louise Hay

Our mind loves replaying adverse events from the past…as well as projecting possible negative scenarios that could happen in the future…

And this is what may be blocking your manifestations…

Simply intend to focus on the here and now. The present moment.

Mindfulness is one of the most overlooked aspects of manifesting because our frantic minds prefer to look for the next LOA method or technique!

But, in this moment, you can change everything and choose a new path. Today, do a little experiment…Embrace and really feel the present moment several times during the day…Schedule a few little mindfulness breaks…even for a few seconds.

Feel into your power and notice how relaxed you feel!

How to Be Happy in Life (Top 9 Life Lessons from 100-Year-Olds)

#15 “Be willing to take the first step, no matter how small it is. Concentrate on the fact that you are willing to learn. Absolute miracles will happen.”

– Louise Hay

Whatever it is that you want to learn or master…start now…start today! I apply this philosophy to this blog…and my books as well. Pretty much anything I do in my life and business.

But, it wasn’t always this way. I used to overwhelm and paralyze myself with too much information from many experts (very often contradicting one another). Then, I would spend days, weeks, and even months researching…trying to find out if the experts I followed were right or not…

Now, yes, it’s good to learn from people who walk the talk…but at the end of the day, it’s all about following yourself and your own way!

I always say: learn from experts, seek guidance and feedback whenever need it.

But…all from a place of unapologetic self-awareness.

Simple example- as I’m writing this, this blog is taking off.

However, when I first started this journey (summer 2021), I followed way too many experts and got paralyzed. I wanted to make everything perfect. I wanted to follow all the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) rules…while it’s good to intentionally create content that people are searching for, trying to stick to way too many rules weakened my creativity and message.

So, I had to find my own way! The way I did it was to …. simply show up every day, write content from my heart, see what my audience really needed, and then dive deeper into their needs (which also happened to align with the topics I was passionate about!).

I would have never found my own way if I had just spent months studying courses and other people’s success stories. I found Loise’s quote just in time. I already knew this principle from Transurfing by Vadim Zeland…just keep going with faith and confidence. Keep placing one foot in front of the other!

#16 “When we are ready to make positive changes in our lives, we attract whatever we need to help us.”

– Louise Hay

There are so many different healing modalities… There’s traditional therapy and psychology… There’s energy healing… There’s self-development.

I always say there is no right or wrong. My favorite modality at this stage is EFT Tapping.

Before discovering, I tried many things and modalities that didn’t work for me. But now looking back, I realized I wasn’t fully ready to make them work. I wasn’t fully prepared for deep healing. So, I kept sabotaging myself. At some stage, I was so negative. That everything seemed a scam to me.

Finally, after hitting rock bottom several years ago (manifesting a disease and significant losses in my business), I intuitively began to pray. I had no idea who or what I was praying for. I grew up as a Catholic, but the community I grew up in, felt almost like a cult…it was all fear-based shaming, and so, when I moved out of my hometown, I honestly didn’t feel like believing in anything.

But…after experiencing so much hardship in my life, I rediscovered God. The Loving God. The Divine. The magical entity of supernatural beings taking care of me 24/7. Something I like to call the Essence.

The Divine. I immediately felt safer, and I prayed for answers. As I was crying. I asked, please…send me a mentor…or someone or something that could help me.

One night, I felt guided to google the spiritual awakening symptoms.

One of the blogs I found back then really resonated with me. As I kept looking for more from the writer who created those blogs, I came across a little eBook on tapping. As far as I can remember, it didn’t even have a lot of reviews or testimonials. But, it somehow resonated with me.

I bought it. I read it in one sitting. I began tapping. I knew it was it. Then, I continued my journey with tapping. I read The Tapping Solution by Nick Ortner. And I took several courses by Robert G Smith of Faster EFT Tapping (focusing on Faster EFT for goal setting and manifesting money).

One thing led me to the next. But I WAS READY!

After experiencing a massive transformation with tapping, I keep tapping every day because it feels good. And thanks to tapping, as if by magic, other modalities I’d studied years ago, such as reiki…, suddenly got my attention again. And complemented by tapping practice beautifully!

As they say- when the student is ready…the teacher appears, right?

SO TRUE!

#17 “If your mother did not know how to love herself, or your father did not know how to love himself, then it would be impossible for them to teach you to love yourself.”

― Louise Hay.

This one can be very triggering for some people. It certainly was for me. But from my experience (I’m a big fan of ancestral healing work), I can tell you this- start with healing yourself, your energy, and your perception of whatever happens in your family.

Find your healing modality and commit to doing the inner work. By healing yourself, you will heal the way you show up in your family. Some family members will want to learn from you.

They will be inspired. No words of convincing someone to do something or try some healing work will be needed. They will sense your energy and reach out to you. Or, they might simply feel inspired to change their life.

Some family members, on the contrary, will be still stuck in their old ways. Still, you can pray for them. You can love them. From my experience, you may not be able to save them. People make different choices. But you can give them the gift of love. As you keep loving and healing yourself.

Please note. This one can be hard and triggering for many people, and many of my readers prefer to do ancestral healing work with an experienced therapist or counselor.

#18 “When there is a problem, there is not something to do. There is something to know.”

You always have a choice. You can see your current reality as something against you and try to fight it. Or, you can go with the flow and use it as a mirror that offers valuable feedback.

Whatever you desire to change, start off by making peace with yourself from within yourself. Instead of blaming the circumstances, find something to be grateful for and mindfully transform negative into positive. You can elevate yourself and others.

#19 “Love is the greatest healing power I know. Love can heal even the deepest and most painful memories because love brings the light of understanding to the darkest corners of our hearts and minds.”

― Louise Hay.

As I say in my book- The LOVE of Attraction, finding and embracing love, even during dark periods of your life, not only heals, but also powerfully transforms.

We have the power to shift our thoughts, intentions, actions, feelings, and inner dialogue and make them love-based. Embody love. Be love. And your life will be lovely!

#20 “If I want to be accepted as I am, then I need to be willing to accept others as they are.” -Louise Hay.

I used to be addicted to blaming and criticizing others. And I would very often give them unsolicited, righteous advice as for how they should be. The funniest part? I wasn’t even aware of what I was doing…It was only when I realized that by criticizing others, I was really criticizing myself that I was able to shift.

Back then, I intuitively knew that something deep inside me had to change. And I would just project that “something” onto others and nag them. Classical projection!

Louise Hay’s teachings helped me realize the root of my problem- my way of thinking and my energy. I had to do the mental, emotional and spiritual work to feel at peace with myself. Then, I accepted myself and others. Now, I no longer feel any need to blame or criticize others.

And, if someone does it in my company, I immediately feel the destructive power of low vibrational frequencies and change the topic while helping them to focus on something positive. As we already discussed in #19 – it’s all about embracing the transformative power of love.
